What does this mean for a business?
You only benefit from a negative price directly with a dynamic energy contract. With a fixed or variable contract you notice little of it.
A battery can charge at those moments and use the power later, when it is expensive. The InduBa EMS charges at the lowest or negative EPEX prices, without you having to do anything.
With solar panels and a dynamic feed-in contract, exporting power at such moments can cost money, depending on your contract. Then it pays to store that power yourself.
About these figures
Day-ahead prices for the Belgian bidding zone (EPEX SPOT). Hourly until 30 September 2025, per quarter hour after that; each quarter hour counts as a quarter of an hour, so the figures stay comparable. Only complete days are counted. This is the wholesale price, not the price on your bill: grid tariffs, levies and your supplier's margin come on top.
