Frequently Asked Questions

The most frequently asked questions about industrial battery storage in Belgium. From subsidies to technical requirements, from payback periods to maintenance.

Not if the total inverter power on your site, including solar panels, stays below 30 kVA. Where it fits, we therefore design below that threshold. Above it, a NOB is mandatory; it costs between €8,000 and €45,000, depending on your requirements and the electrical capacity of your site.

We calculate that in advance in your simulation. Farms in Flanders receive VLIF support (Flemish agricultural investment aid): 40% (max. €18,086) or, for young farmers under 40, 50% (max. €22,607.50). Work you carry out yourself (groundwork, cabling, assembly) and your existing installation lower your own investment further.

64, 80 or 96 kWh of storage. We determine the inverter power for each business from the simulation; where it fits, the total stays below 30 kVA, so no NOB is needed. With 96 kWh you get the maximum VLIF support.

Yes. The InduBa SME, PowerVault or Max with PowerBridge switches over in less than 15 ms during a grid outage. We integrate a generator as standard.

We run your quarter-hour meter data (in Flanders: from Fluvius) through the simulator quarter-hour by quarter-hour, with historical EPEX prices and the actual or expected solar production at your location. You see for each day how the battery would have operated. No assumptions. You receive your simulation within 3 working days. About 4 in 10 requests turn out not to be profitable; in that case we advise against a battery.

Yes. The EMS learns your consumption, forecasts sunshine hours and EPEX prices, and works with seasonal profiles, a morning boost and cooling curves. Specific to your business. It is part of the service, at no extra cost.

No. The InduBa EMS works independently of your energy supplier. Want to switch? Go ahead. Want a different EMS? That is fine too. No contracts, no lock-in.

The electricity itself sometimes costs €0 or less, but the grid operator has to recover its investments, so grid tariffs go up. The more electricity you store and use yourself, the less exposed you are to them.

TC5 is the system Fluvius, the grid operator in Flanders, uses to monitor and control your battery remotely. It is mandatory for batteries of 100 kW or more with their own medium-voltage substation; an extension to 100 kVA has been proposed. InduBa delivers TC5-ready as standard via EME eCON+, certified for Telecontrol 5 and live tested on a Fluvius RTU.

EME Bordenbouw has more than 60 years of experience in grid decoupling, is ISO 9001-certified and supplies the eCON+ system, certified for Fluvius Telecontrol 5, which combines TC5, power metering and the link to the EMS in one cabinet.

No. We build in a 20% margin as standard: at 100% battery load, the NOB runs at 80% of its capacity. This keeps the components within their temperature limits even during prolonged peaks, which extends their lifespan.
